Jesus He Is Everything You Need | The BIG Idea

Jesus paid the price for me to be redeemed from bondage. As I trust and follow Him, I walk in freedom and victory over sin and darkness.

Review

Redemption Brings Healing to Our Relationships…

Because we have graciously been reconciled to God, we can also be reconciled with others.

God WANTS to redeem our relationships. God will HELP us redeem relationships. God will bring great BLESSING through our redeemed relationships.

Three specific steps to take:

·         Take the initiative and do whatever we can.

·         Act prayerfully in faith.

·         Leave the outcome in God’s hands.

Redemption Brings Deliverance..

First clear mention of redemption in the Bible is God’s deliverance of Israel from bondage in Egypt.

They were sold into slavery, but God redeemed them. In that case, God is very clear that He did not pay anything. He did it through His mighty power!

This is important to remember as we study redemption, especially as ransom or the payment of a price. This kind of language is a divine accommodation to our limited, human understanding. God, who is greater than our human condition or culture, took on our human condition and culture in order to communicate to us through it and on it, in a way that we can understand.

Just because God speaks of paying a price (“I gave Sheba for your ransom,”), etc., does not mean that anyone or any poorer in all the universe could set a price or exact a price or force Him to pay a price. God makes this very clear in His specific statements about Israel’s redemption from Egypt. The price that was paid was by Pharoah through the death of his own first-born Son and the other first-born sons of all the Egyptians! The Apostle Paul also makes this clear through the rest of this first chapter of his letter to the Christians in Colosse, when he writes,

Colossians 1:15–23 (NIV) — 15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For GOD was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

Who was “pleased” to set redemption up in such a way that it involves the paying of the unfathomable price of the death of Jesus on the Cross? Who came up with this idea? Who set the price? GOD did… So that we would know just how terrible sin is and so that we would know just how wonderful Jesus is and pledge our lives to Him forever…!

Once, we were far, but now we are near. Once were alienated, but now we are reconciled. Once we were

Lost, found

Blind, see

Dead, alive

Guilty, pardoned

Slaves, sons

Walked in darkness, light

Foreigners, citizens

ALL BECAUSE OF JESUS…!
