BEING CREATIVE | DJ-JOYFUL LEWIS
I don’t watch television, there just isn’t a lot to watch, but I have found a few shows that has become an addiction to me—TED Talks, RightNow Media and Shark Tank. Their awesome. Shark Tank has reinvigorated entrepreneurship in America, has also become a culturally defining series. Entrepreneurs get the chance to bring their dreams to fruition in this reality show from executive producer Mark Burnett. They present their ideas to the sharks in the tank — five titans of industry who made their own dreams a reality and turned their ideas into lucrative empires. The contestants try to convince any one of the sharks to invest money in their idea. When more than one of the sharks decide they want a piece of the action, a bidding war can erupt, driving up the price of the investment.

TED is devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 as a conference. Now a video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). Look for talks on Technology, Entertainment and Design — plus science, business, global issues, the arts and much more. — in more than 110 languages.
RightNow Media has 10,000+ Bible Study Videos. Instantly stream biblical teaching to your Sunday school, home groups, men’s groups, women’s groups or youth groups. Resources from over 150 leading Christian publishers and ministries. I love these videos—it is awesome. Why? I’m not a scholarly person. I like it for the same reason I watch “Shark Tank,” or I used to watch This Old House on PBS. I like being around the creative process. There is something that comes alive in me when I watch other people create something. It is the same buzz I get when I am creative.
Where does that yearning for being creative come from? I believe it comes from God. No, I’m not saying that God is implanting a special desire in my heart to watch these shows. But I do believe that God has given us the desire to create. And I know that when I create, I feel close to Him.
Because when we are creative, we are taking after our Father.
